After your pattern is finished, we will be able to give you a more precise amount. Our estimate will be based on the standard home décor fabric width of 54” and non-directional fabric. SLIPCOVER FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS

The type of fabric needed for slipcovers must have certain characteristics. We highly recommend ordering samples prior to purchase to check for the following:

  • Supple. Since slipcovers are not attached to the furniture, the fabric must be able to drape well over the arms and back. It cannot be stiff or overly heavy.
  • Washable with very little shrinkage – Being able to wash your slipcover is one of the basic requirements for a slipcover. Many natural fiber fabrics, cotton and linen, are now pre-washed and pre-shrunk at the mill. You’ll find this included in the information about the fabric.
  • Full cuts, Not pieces – Make sure that the fabric is in one continuous piece, not cuts. This makes it very difficult to cut the large pattern sections required for furniture slipcovers and you may need more fabric to compensate.
